Configuring Control Station date, time and time zone using the command line

Description:

 

The Control Station date and time settings are important for accurate system event logging. In NAS 6.0 and later, the digital certificates used by the Unisphere service can be affected by differences in time between the Control station and the Client, particularly just after upgrade or installation.

 

Note: It is important that the whole Celerra system, including the Data Movers are all configured with the correct date and time parameters. The following procedure can be used to configure the correct date, time and time zone on the Control Station. To set the date and time configuration on the Data Movers please refer to the Configuring Celerra Time Services document on Powerlink.

 

Procedure:

 

1. Log in to the Control Station as nasadmin

 

2. Type su to change to root user and enter the root password.

 

3. Display the currently configured time zone:

 

# /nas/http/webui/bin/timezone.pl -g

GMT

 

If the time zone is correct, skip to Configuring Date and Time.

4. List the time zones supported by the Control Station:

 

# /nas/http/webui/bin/timezone.pl -l | sed 's/,/\n/g'| more

Hint: Instead of paging through the complete listing, use grep to refine the list to particular country as in the following example:

5. Configure the correct time zone:

 

# /nas/http/webui/bin/timezone.pl -s Australia/Sydney

 

6. Confirm the time zone is now configured correctly:

 

# /nas/http/webui/bin/timezone.pl -g

7. Display the current date and time.

 

# /nas/http/webui/bin/datetime.pl -g

2011-03-01T23:17:10

 

8. Set the date and time to the correct values usign the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS.

 

# /nas/http/webui/bin/datetime.pl -s 2011-03-02T11:19:00

 

9. Confirm the date and time are correct:

 

# /nas/http/webui/bin/datetime.pl -g
