Description:

How to change umask values on CIFS shares using the server_export command

Resolution:

Use the server_export command to change the umask value for CIFS exports. Change the umask on a given share using the following syntax, which includes the -o umask= switch:

# server_export server_2 -P cifs -n <share_name> -o umask=<new_value>  /<file_system_mountpoint>

Example:

# server_export server_2 -P cifs -n home4 -o umask=027 /fs1
server_2 : done

Verify that the umask was changed:

# server_export server_2
server_2 :
share "home4" "/fs1" umask=027 maxusr=4294967295

Example of what a newly created default CIFS share named "home4" looks like from the CLI:

# server_export server_2
server_2 :
share "home4" "/fs1" umask=022 maxusr=4294967295
<-- Default umask set on Celerra CIFS shares
