Connectrix B-Series Brocade: Troubleshooting Port "Laser_Flt" Message

Port link going down due to Laser_Flt.

After determining that a port has shifted into an disabled status, verify the status of the port by using the command switchshow to verify the status of the afflicted port is in a Laser_Flt state.

Deterioration, damage, or fault occurring to an SFP module.

After determining that the port is in a Laser_Flt state, replace the SFP in the affected port. Open an SR with EMC Support and provide the following information to ensure a straight forward dispatch of the case.

• Switch name
• Switch/Product ID
• switchshow: command output detailing the affected port
• sfpshow (-all) depending on the FOS version, use the ports slot/port identifier or its index no.

Regarding the SFP replacement, a spare may be used from a port that is offline/not in use and the above can be implemented to replace the spare unit.
