Instructions:

 

 

Dell EMC supports two setting for the Intel Gen 2 chassis power redundancy settings;    

         
  1.         Cold redundancy (default)     
  2.      
  3.         Balanced redundancy      
  4.    
   

      No RPQ is required to implement the below config change.   

   
    We can manually disabled Cold redundancy based on customer requested by following the procedure below;    
         
  1.         Identify node hardware type, must be Gen 2                
    doit dmidecode -s system-product-name 192.168.219.1:  S2600KP192.168.219.2:  S2600KP192.168.219.3:  S2600KP192.168.219.4:  S2600KP        
                  
  2.      
  3.         Check the current Cold Redundancy Setting: (every 4 nodes will be the same, the setting is for a single chassis which host 4 nodes);

  5.         Check the current Power Supply input, with cold redundancy power is flowing through one PS only. We can see 510 Watts all flowing through PS1 and 0 flowing through PS2. Verify the same thing on all nodes

  7.         Disable cold redundancy using impitool (applies to 3.2.2 ECS-OS or higher , for older version see Notes below.) :

  9.         Confirm cold redundancy is off. output 01 00 means it is off.

  11.         Wait 60 seconds and Confirm both Power supplies are consuming power evenly, we can see below 270 Watts are flowing through each PS. Verify the same on all nodes in the chassis.

    For version older than 3.2.2 , please engage ECS team to use a special procedure to implement the change.    
   
    To revert the above changes, we can disable Cold redundancy using the below commands;
