When attempting to list exiting remote protection IP links via the XMCLI or the WebUI, the list appears as empty.

      xmcli (tech)> show-remote-protection-ip-links
        No matches found
        xmcli (tech)> show-alerts
38 Protection session state is unknown. major
This affects environments where only one of the XMS is running version 6.2.1-36 while the peer XMS is running a lower version (i.e. versions 6.1.0-x through 6.2.0-x).

This issue is caused due to software version mismatch between the two replication XMS. Some of this will be visible when running the command from the following example on the XMS that's running 6.2.1:

      xmcli (tech)> show-remote-protection-peer-xms
        XMS-Alias Index SW-Version IP-Address XMS-Connectivity-State
        xms 0 6.2.1-36 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx connected
        RemoteXMS1 0 6.1.0-UNKNOWN yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy connected
        RemoteXMS2 0 6.1.0-UNKNOWN zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz connected

To resolve the issue, use one of the following two methods:

  1.         Upgrade the peer XMS to version 6.2.1-36. This will resolve the software version mismatch
  3.         List and manage the remote protection IP links via the XMS that is running the earlier version (i.e. not the XMS with version 6.2.1-36)
