Issue:

Report under "Explore>Storage>Storage Systems>VMAX3 array serial#”>Device Summary>VMAX3 array serial#>Capacity>Usable Capacity by Pool” show wrong capacity values for the Thick LUNS Pool

In one environment where the issue was encountered, the following was observed:-
SRM version was upgraded from 4.0.1 to 4.1.1

Cause:

After upgrading the VMAX SolutionPack to the 4.0 release, the ThickLunCapacity, ThickLunUsedCapacity, and ThickLunFreeCapacity metrics created for VMAX3 arrays in previous releases will no longer be created. Any of these old metrics will continue to display in the "Usable Capacity by Pool" report in a row for "Thick LUNs" for up to 14 days after the upgrade and will subsequently result in incorrect total capacities in the report.

Resolution:

The suggested resolution is to wait for 14 days, the old metrics will be marked as "inactive" and will then stop displaying and the total capacities will be correct.

In one environment where the issue was encountered, the following is a speedy resolution:-

-For vmax3 array, delete the inactive metrics which are “ThickLunCapacity”, “ThickLunUsedCapacity”, and “ThickLunFreeCapacity” using management of database metrics module (confirm first that no historical data is needed bearing in mind that the process is irreversible so the deleted metrics will be gone forever.)
