Product:

ViPR Controller Controller 3.6 SP1,ViPR Controller

Issue:

When attempting to add a standby site from the ViPR Controller Active Site GUI > System > System Disaster Recovery > Add > Add Standby page, the following error appears:

Error 30042: Adding a standby site failed. Cause: Standby is not a fresh installation.

Cause:

The Standby Site Root user's password was changed from the default.

Change:

ViPR Controller Active Site GUI > System > System Disaster Recovery > Add > Add Standby

Resolution:

Workaround: If the Standby Site Root user's password was changed from the default there is no workaround available for the issue. Changing the Standby Site Root user's password back to the default password will not resolve the issue.

Resolution: The Standby Site must be redeployed to resolve the issue. Do not make any Standby Site changes after deploying the Standby Site per the ViPR Controller User Interface Online Help and the EMC ViPR Controller Disaster Recovery and Backup Guide:

  •         Do not perform an initial GUI configuration.
  •
  •         Do not specify NTP/DNS, email, etc. settings on the Standby site - they are set only on the Active site and shared by all sites.
  •
  •         The correct state of the new Standby site is such that when you log into the GUI, you should see the Add License page.
  •
When redeploying a Standby Site follow the steps below:

    1. From VMware power off the Standby Site vApp and delete it from disk.

    2. Delete the Standby Site from the ViPR Controller Active Site Configuration (GUI > System > System Disaster Recovery > Check Site Name to be deleted > Delete).

    3. Deploy a new Standby Site with no changes.

    4. After powering on the new Standby Site add it from the ViPR Controller Active Site GUI > System > System Disaster Recovery > Add > Add Standby page,
