The following is observed:   
    - vipr nodes are unstable bouncing between Good and Unavailable   
    - System status -> Syncing    
    - The following error is displayed:   
     Service Unavailable (6503) The service is currently unavailable. Please contact an administrator or try again later. Vipr Controller Service Unavailable   
   
     
                                                           

 

 

Cause:

 

 

Image files present in the ViPR System that needs to be removed because they are causing the system to be in Syncing state.                                                           

 

 

Resolution:

 

 

   

      1.        Open a putty session and navigate to /opt/storageos/cli   

   

      2.        # vi viprcli.profile   

   

      3.        Set the VIPR_HOSTNAME to the ViPR public virtual IP address and VIPR_PORT=4443 environment variable and save the file.   

   

      4.        # source viprcli.profile   

   

      5.        Go to /opt/storageos/bin   

   

      6.        # viprcli authenticate -u root -d /tmp/vipr     
     
      7.        Run the following command to check if the system is in Syncing mode or not (last line)

    8.         Remove all vipr versions image files that are not the current version of the vipr nodes (in the above mentioned case, the only image file that needs to be removed is vipr-3.6.1.3.207  using the following command: viprcli system remove-image -v vipr-x.x.x.x -force (where x.x.x.x is the vipr image file name)   
   
    9.         Check the system status, it should change from Syncing to Stable. If it didn't, reboot the vApp and try again.
