Customer was trying to launch the GUI from the "Unisphere Client" for one of the VNX
In Unisphere Client Connect screen, when we type IP address for the host name and click Connect.
Customer encountered the below ERROR message:
“The specified system is not reachable or the certificate on the system could not be validated"
He was able to open GUI for another VNX Array from the same System but not for VNX 5300
Able to ping the Management IP addresses from the PC where Client was running
Action plan already followed:
1)Tried Restarting the Management server.
2) Generated Self signed Certificate.
But still getting the same error message
Found that both the Arrays were on different subnet
Tried to telnet the ports 80 and 443
Port 80 and 443 was closed for VNX 5300 subnet.
Asked customer to open port 80 and 443 .
It was a network issue
You can check if a port is open in your network by issuing the telnet command. If it is open, you will see a blank screen after issuing the command:
telnet [domainname or ip] [port]
[domainname or ip] is the domain name or IP address of the server to which you are trying to connect
[port] is the port number where the server is listening
If the port is open, you will see a blank screen. This will mean that connection is successful.
telnet SPA/SPB_IP 443
telnet SPA/SPB_IP 80
NOTE àIn Windows Vista and Windows 7 you may need to enable telnet first:
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Programs;
Under Programs and features, click Turn Windows features on or off;
Mark both Telnet Client and Telnet Server;
