Issue:

How to remove EMC ODM AIX FCP filesets that were installed in error.

Cause:

The user accidentally installed EMC.Symmetrix.fcp.rte 5.3.1.0 instead of EMC.Symmetrix.MPIO.rte 5.3.1.0.

Resolution:

      To correct this issue:

  1.           Shutdown the application(s).
  2.
  3.           Unmount the file system(s).
  4.
  5.           Varyoff ALL volume group(s) except the rootvg!.
  6.
  7.           Remove ALL devices from under EMC ODM Control:
               lsdev -Cc disk | grep EMC | awk  '{print $1} ' | xargs  -ti  rmdev -dl {}
This removes all devices at once if there are many.
  8.
  9.           Removing the adapters:
rmdev -dl fcsX  --> X being driver instance number, that is, 0,1,2, etc.
  10.
  11.           Remove the ODM with:
installp -u Symm* or EMC with the newer version.
OR use "smit" to select just the ODM filesets.
  12.
  13.           Install ODM 5.3.1.0 WITHOUT the FCP fileset (EMC.Symmetrix.MPIO.rte 5.3.1.0).
  14.
                With MPIO It will show:
           EMC.Symmetrix.aix.rte      5.3.0.3  C   F    EMC Symmetrix AIX Support Software
EMC.Symmetrix.fcp.MPIO.rte 5.3.0.3  C   F    EMC Symmetrix FCP MPIO Support Softwa
