How to troubleshoot network interface connectivity issues

Environment:

Data Domain

 

Description:

Interface connectivity down on <interface>

Intermittent network connectivity issues

Can't communicate with host on a remote network or same network

Failed to get DHCPv4 lease information in 90 seconds

Interface <interface> is enabled but not running, Check cable and connections

Can't ping default gateway

Backup or replication failure

 

 

Resolution:

Verify physical connectivity, DDR network interface link is enabled and up.

Verify layer 2 communication, you will need two SSH sessions for this step.

Obtain DDR interface MAC address and search for mac address on switch. Verify which port on the switch that mac address is seen. It should be the intended configured switch port with the correct VLAN and other settings.
