Description:

Customer is trying to install PowerPath on a Windows Core Server.

 

 

Product: EMC PowerPath 6.0 Service Pack 2 (64bit) -- Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action CA_BackupMPIO_SDL script error -2147221163, : Line 433, Column 5,

 

Resolution:

This looks like an installer issue on the server. The Windows Installer engine is either corrupted, disabled, or an older version may cause installation issues:

  • First Check whether Windows Installer engine is working,
  • Type MSIExec in CMD prompt and press enter.
  • If the MSI engine is working, you should not receive any error messages.
  • If you receive an error message, review the error message and resolve the installer issue.
