Description:

This is a requested procedure for performing the power-down and subsequent power-up of an ECS system. Use this procedure for a system with a single VDC system. For multi-VDC systems, please contact support for additional instructions.

Resolution:

Please note before carrying out this procedure any patch applied to the system gets removed as a new container image gets created on taking node out of maintenance mode. Before carrying out this procedure contact a coach/EE team member as post config changes at specific code versions will need to be re-applied.

Before starting the power-down procedure it is important to have a recent xDoctor run without errors. Also confirm the status of the directory tables to ensure none are in at "Not Ready" state with the command below:

viprexec -i 'curl http://localhost:9101/stats/dt/DTInitStat/ | grep "<unready_dt_num>"'

If there are a high number of Unready DTs please contact EMC ECS Support for follow-up and investigation. For a detailed step by step resolution please refer to EMC Support Solution 334607 https://support.emc.com/kb/334607
