Cause 1
Most common cause - The datastore mappings are not selected in the proxy configuration or no proxy is configured to protect the group policy.
Cause 2
Not common - the 'Default Proxy Group' was enabled for backup. This group should be disabled.
Resolution to Cause 1
Edit the proxies and select the other datastores and ensure that a proxy is selected in the group policy..
Procedure
1. In Avamar Administrator, click the Policy launcher button.
The Policy window appears.
2. Click the Policy Management tab, and then click the Clients tab.
3. Select a proxy and click Edit.
Note:
Click Show sub-domain clients to show all available virtual machine clients.
The Edit Client dialog box appears.
4. Click the VMware tab, and then click the Datastores tab.
5. Note which datastores are selected.
6. Click the Groups tab.
7. Note which groups are selected.
8. Click OK.
Resolution to Cause 2
Disable the 'Default Proxy Group'
Re-register the proxy by rebooting the proxy, then pressing any key when prompted to re-register. See more in the Avamar VMware Users guide
Note: If this group was enabled, there may be backups in Avamar of the proxy. follow these steps to remove the backups if needed:
1. Delete the proxy from MC GUI which should delete all of associated linux backups
OR
2. Delete all the backup assocated with the proxy
