See alert summary, trends, and availability reports for a specific device by drilling down to that device in Explore view.
To find the summary of all alerts for a device, go to that particular device in Explore view.
Alert Report in device details view
Device-related details can be viewed in Explore view by selecting the proper device type (Host, Storage or Storage Connectivity). Clicking on a device displays details of the device. Under the Category section, the Alerts entry can be seen only if there are any alerts for that device.
Clicking on the Alerts Category will show alert data in the form of two charts:
- Alert Summary
- Alert Trend
This report provides information on how many active alerts of various severities have been generated or what has the trend been for all incoming alerts for the selected device.
Alerts Summary Report
The Alert Summary chart helps to understand the number of critical, major, minor, unknown or informational severity alerts for the selected device that are ACTIVE in the system for last one week. Each section of the pie chart specifies the severity. Total number of alerts and number of alerts for that severity are mentioned in the tool tip. Clicking on a section will show the All Alerts report in a tabular format filtered on the chosen severity. The same user actions can be performed on each alert which are available in the All Alerts report in Operations > Alerts> All Alerts. Clicking on each row of the table will show the Alert Details report.
Alerts Trend report
The history of alerts is shown as a trend chart and is based on severity. Each severity (critical, major, minor, unknown, informational) is represented by a different color. This chart shows the trend of all ACTIVE and INACTIVE alerts generated in the last one week for the selected device. The number of alerts for a particular severity at a particular time can be derived from this chart. No user actions are available here.
Availability Overlay report
Another report which is available to view alert data for a particular device is Availability Overlay. It can be found in the Explore view for Switches and Hosts under the Availability & Performance category.
Availability Overlay reports represent all ACTIVE alerts on the Availability graph of the selected device. As can be seen in the figure above, alerts are represented as dots in the Availability graph and also in the form of a table. Hovering on a dot highlights the corresponding alert in the table and vice-versa is also true. In general, number of dots shows the number of alerts that were generated at that point in time but if there are more than 200 alerts only 200 alerts will be displayed as overlay on Availability graph.
Through this report, you can determine why some alerts got generated based on the availability graph. For example, as shown in the figure above, there are multiple red dots when the device is not available.
The same user actions can be performed on each alert which are available in the All Alerts report in Operations> Alerts> All Alerts. Clicking on each row of the table will show the Alert Details report.
