|EMC Storage Plug-in for OEM 12c – Part I – Storage Enablement for Oracle DBAs|
EMC enables the Oracle DBA to work closely with our storage solutions through the use of a free Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 12c plug-in. Installation of the plug-in is quick & easy with minimal effort for storage admins or DBAs.
For EMC XtremIO, the EMC Storage Plug-in for OEM 12c uses the XtremIO REST API running on the XtremIO Management Station (XMS) to collect performance information from both database servers and XtremIO storage systems.
On 4th May 2015, EMC unveiled XtremIO™ version 4.0. XtremIO is EMC's all-flash storage array that has been designed from the ground-up to unlock the full performance potential of flash and deliver array-based capabilities that leverage the unique characteristics of SSDs.
The VCE Vblock 540 system delivers an agile and resilient integrated infrastructure system to ensure that enterprise class services are delivered without compromising service levels. The enterprise-class Vblock system 540 is durable and fully redundant, ensuring the highest levels of availability for critical applications and resources.
In my last blog I talked about “Oracle Performance on the Vblock” and provided information about the performance that has been seen when an Oracle Database is deployed in a Vblock environment. I also mentioned that the performance potential of the Vblock 540 with EMC XtremIO makes it the perfect choice for a consolidation platform – multiple Oracle databases can be consolidated in mixed virtualized environments.
