VNXe3200 Unreacheable After running "svc_reimage" on both SPs

Both SPs were in service mode. svc_diag showed this.

*** WARNING *** This Storage Processor is in Service Mode  *** WARNING ***

We tried to restart the SPs but to no avail. So we ran the "svc_reimage" and "svc_shutdown -r" on both SPs. However since then we've lost connection to the SPs. We left it over night but nothing has changed. The IPs for SPA and SPB are not reachable. The service ports, however, is pinging, 128.221.1.252 and 253.

Any help, please?

Hello Dee_Amany,

It looks like your SP’s are stuck in a boot loop. What will need to be done is to connect to the sp’s and watch the boot to see what is going on with the SP’s so that we can see what is causing the boot loop.

@DELL-Sam L Hello, so we went in through the service port and the issue still persists. After the reimage though, the Unisphere IPs are no longer showing "Unisphere IP address(es): Unable to determine IP address(es)". The reimage process failed. So the SPs are stuck in service mode.

Will a replacement of both SPs resolve this issue?

Hello Dee_Amany,

Seeing as the reimage has failed it is best to open a support case so that we can look into your issue and see why the reimage has failed, and how best to resolve this issue. Replacing the SP’s will not resolve a boot loop issue. In some case by replacing the SP’s you can introduce new errors to the system.

suggest to take down time remove the secondary controller and then power on the storage, this might be helpful and there will be no data loss.
