Hello!
I have 100gb ssd drives (FLV32S6F-100, PN 005049263) which are not detected in my vnx 5300. When I insert them into any free slot, an enclosure ERROR occurs and the drive is not detected.
The manufacturer of SSD disks is SASUNG.
Version FLAGE 05.32.000.5.201.
In Disk and FLARE®/OE Matrix, drive with PN 005049263 support by vnx 5300.
Here is an entry in the SPCollection data

Hi,

Thanks for your question about VNX. Are these new drives? They should be supported on that OE version.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Disks are new. It confuses me that the disk manufacturer Toshiba is on the Internet, and I have Samsung. When I inserted these disks into Dell R740, they were identified as SS162511 CLAR 100 rev DC0D and their status was FILED. Do you need more information on my issue?

Toshiba and Samsung have a partnership. So the memory being from one shouldn’t be the problem. The model seems to show up correctly on the server. Your best option is to call phone support and have them go through the logs.

Sorry, I don't have access to support at this time. Maybe you can help me to solve this problem?

I have to follow the same restrictions for out of warranty as phone support. The best options at this point are to try to update the OE or to try to replace the drives. The solve tool might have something that is helpful too. https://dell.to/3cQHo52

Unfortunately, my account has restricted access to https://dell.to/3cQHo52. Maybe you can help me with something else?

Sure, I can try. What else are you needing help with?

Please tell me what does "FBE_SAS_PHYSICAL_DRIVE_DEATH_REASON_FAILED_TO_SET_DEV_INFO" mean in the log? Maybe this way I can find a solution to my problem?

It seems like the error is "The drives have the wrong drive information and have the wrong firmware."

So the drives might be generic and not EMC firmware.

But the drives were in sealed DELL EMC boxes. The box says pn 005049263. How can it happen that these drives have incompatible firmware?

They may have Dell server or storage firmware rather than VNX firmware. The other possibility is something is wrong with the backplane and it isn’t communicating properly, do you have other drives that work?

Yes, shure. I have many SAS 600 and 900 Gb and 10 SSD drives for Cache. Drives with pn 005049263 may have Dell server or storage firmware rather than VNX firmware?

That part number should be EMC only but the drives are used in different products with different part numbers.

Then it is not clear how disks with such a partnumber can have firmware that is not compatible with VNX?

Based on the part numbers it should work, but they don’t work, other drives work so it isn’t the VNX it is something with those drives. The recommendation is to return the drives and get different drives or get the unit back under warranty and have phone support go through the logs.
