Performance issue in VNX5200

Dear All,

We are facing performance issue in VNX5200.

We have a single pool with FAST Cache and FAST VP enabled.

2 SSD disks of 91GB configured in FAST Cache

Pool have total 41 disks (SSD disk, SAS disk and NL-SAS disk)

SSD disk: 5 disk used in pool with RAID5 configured.

SAS disk: 20 disks used in pool with RAID5 configured

NL-SAS disk: 16 disks used in pool with RAID6 configured

For tiering it show
1780GB(to be moved up),
514GB(to be moved down),
Data relocation time showing (127 hours).

So I thing the issue is less no of SSD and NL-SAS disk?

Please suggest if we have any solution or work around for the same?

Thanks in advance for your kind support.
Regards

AK

Hi,

Thanks for your question.  It does seem like you don’t have enough space in the SSD tier to move things to the faster tier.  Try this troubleshooting document. https://dell.to/3TSyrsg

Hi  DELL-Josh CR,

Thank you very much for your suggestion and sorry for late response.

So you are suggesting to add more SSD and SAS disks?

If yes then how many SSD and SAS disk should be added?

Could you please recommend to a tool to check performance of each tier, disk, IOPS and throughput, so that we can decide how many more disks are needed?

I had a question "Is it recommended to have FAST-VP and FAST Cache enabled both a single pool?

Data relocation should complete withing 8 to 9 hours?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Regards
AK
